Kepler Volleys reach 3rd place in 1LVV preparation tournament

Saturday, September 21, 2024 Tournament Gameday

Today, Kepler Volleys took part in the 1LVV Preparation Tournament, finishing with an impressive 3rd place. The tournament was a fantastic opportunity to test our skills and asses our progress as we gear up for the season ahead.

Group Stage

In our group, we faced familiar opponents in Powervolleys Freistadt and Steelvolleys Herren 2, both of whom we had previously played in friendly test matches. Alongside them, we met the team from UNIONvolleys Bisamberg-Hollabrunn. In the group stage we claimed victories agains both Steelvolleys 2 and Bisamberg. These wins secured us 2nd place in our group, narrowly behind Freistadt.

Semi-Final

Advancing to the semi-finals, we faced off against Steelvolleys Herren 1, a strong team competing in the 1st Landesliga. While we knew this would be a tough challenge, we gave our best effort and played well by our standards. In both sets, we managed to keep up with them early on, staying close at 8:9 and 7:8. However, Steelvolleys 1 then found their rhythm and went on decisive scoring runs that left us struggling to catch up. While in the end we didn't come close to winning we could show our skills and learn valuable lessons to improve our game.

The Fight for 3rd Place

In a twist of fate, our final match saw us facing Freistadt once again, this time with 3rd place on the line. Both teams were eager to finish strong, and the match was close from the start. After splitting the first two sets, everything came down to a deciding 3rd set. We stayed focused and played well as a team, managing to pull ahead in the end and win the golden set. It was a hard-fought victory, and we were happy to finish the tournament in 3rd place.
